Meet Lexi Taub, Founder of WeartheCure.org

Lexi Taub, 15, started wearthecure.org to raise money for cancer research. Cancer has touched her life personally. Both her best friend's mother and her Aunt Sandy died from breast cancer. Lexi has seen the effects on her best friend, Sloan, from losing her mother. She says, "Both women have shaped my life. I understand the importance of family and support, and recognize how lucky I am. I also know how important it is to have people researching treatments for this horrible disease."

Lexi began participating in breast cancer fundraisers when she was three, and by the time she was seven, she had set up raffle stands and sold candy at local ball fields. "Sloan and I have participated in the American Cancer Society walk since its inception at Purchase College. For the past four years, I have organized a raffle at a local charity luncheon, calling for jewelry designers to donate their work. In 2007, I founded wearthecure.org and began selling charms. I want to help find a cure for this [awful] disease." 100% of all proceeds go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Kudos to Lexi for her dedication to the fight against breast cancer. HCZ suggests that you check out the necklaces, which range in price from $60-360. Wearthecure.org

Beauty Buzz: We love LUSH's Dream Cream and Dreamwash

We may have tried these two products at the best time; the end of winter, when we have Spring Fever, but it's still cold, and the ground is covered with snow. Our skin also can't make up it's mind what season it is. One day it's below freezing, the next it's 40 degrees and sunny. Then LUSH stepped in. Dreamwash, "The Shower Soap," pairs calming calamine and chamomile with soothing herbs for a luxurious, Vegan, shower experience. It's like slathering on delicious-smelling herbal Lavender lotion in the shower. Speaking of fresh, creamy lotion, Dream Cream may be our favorite lotion ever. It blends together oat milk, rose water, olive oil, cocoa butter and tea tree oil for a rich, creamy, but not greasy, emulsion. Dream Cream leaves our skin lightly scented with relaxing Lavender. It will smooth out any skin irritation and rough patches you have from Winter, and give you silky skin for Spring. We also love the mini-pint containers. It's a yummy pint of Ben and Jerry's goodness for the skin. To visit LUSH Cosmetics, Click Here.

HCZ is Reading boho: A New American Spirit

boho is "a green fashion lifestyle magazine centered around the freedom to express your own personal style and live the life you want to." We received our first issue the other day, and already adore this beautiful, artistic, truly one-of-a-kind magazine. The boho girl is fashionable, but also cares about the environment and making the world a better place. These values certainly align with Hip Chick Zine's, and it's nice to see a magazine like this on newsstands! boho is printed on 100% recycled, post-consumer waste paper and uses soy-based inks. It is completely UV-coating free. Check out this inspiring publication. Click Here

I own my own catering company called 'Amuse Bouche Catering' and I am currently writing a cookbook featuring all my original fusion recipes, along with my own illustrations.
